It’s A Goat, Even If It Flies!!!

Well, that didn’t take too long. At the beginning of Abu Usamah’s piece commenting on Rabi’ al-Madkhali’s recent statement about merely being a critic and not an imam in the science of disparagement and accreditation, he asked the question,

I await to see what the response is going to be from those who have taken him as the undisputed authority in every aspect of the Deen?

Will they apply their normal spin to his words and take them as merely an example of his humility that shows and indicates he is in fact THE IMAM of this science that the scholars of yesterday said ONLY A SELECT FEW WERE CONSIDERED TO BE COMPETENT AND CAPABLE ENOUGH OF DELVING INTO THIS FIELD?

As expected, the exaggerationists obliged in kind and promptly scrambled to carry out some sort of “damage control”, easily living up to the moniker I’ve given them. Take this image of a message that had made its rounds shortly after the audio recording of Rabi’ al-Madkhali’s statement and its translation by Madeenah.com was released:

Oh no! Quick, cover your eyes, plug your ears!

Then there’s also this audio recording of a rather emotional statement made by Abul-Hasan Maalik the Green that was promptly sent out by the brothers at TROID.

Shaikh Rabi’ IS NOT an Imam of Jarh & Ta’dil

A couple days ago I received an email from my dear friend, Abu Usamah Atthahabi, with the subject line “Re: Sheikh Rabee’ IS NOT an Imam of Jarh Wa Ta’deel“. It’s not often that he sends out long emails like this one, so although the subject of Rabi bin Hadi al-Madkhali is one that I find tired and old, I thought I’d read it and see what was up.

With young new exaggerationists popping up constantly, I thought it might be good to share what Abu Usamah had to say on my blog. Although the readership numbers to my blog have died down due to my inactivity, perhaps his thoughts might find their way to people’s screens than they would being forwarded from recipient to recipient through email.

May Allah reward Abu Usamah immensely for his attempts at fairness and levelheadedness.

For those who want some backstory to the email, the subject line of Abu Usamah’s email is in reference to the statement from Rabi’ al-Madkhali found in the YouTube video before the email, both below the jump (email is without any editing done on my part–you read it as I received it).

Allah has commanded us to not speak of Him except the truth and to not speak of Him except with knowledge. He commanded us [to be] just and equitable, so it is not permissible for us when a Jew or a Christian–let alone a Râfidî–makes a statement containing truth that we leave it or we reject all of it. The Last Will & Testament of Muqbil bin Hadi al-Wadi’i

There’s been quite a few times where Shaikh Muqbil bin Hâdî’s last will and testament has been mentioned here on my blog (usually in the comments sections to posts), especially with respect to Shaikh Abul-Hasan al-Ma’ribî. Because of this I thought it might be a good idea to post it here for whoever wants to read it and see for themselves, since the brothers at Salafi Publications (as well others who are upon their exaggerationist mentality) love to make it seem like Shaikh Muqbil was wary of some sort of potential evil Shaikh Abul-Hasan was bound to inflict upon the world. It never made any sense to me (and to many others) how someone who Shaikh Muqbil supposedly believed posed such a great danger to Islam and Salafism would be someone that he advised others to refer matters to in his last will and testament.

In any case, I had a really hard time finding that old translation online, so I decided to retranslate it myself. You guys can read it  here, if you’re interested: The Last Will & Testament of Muqbil bin Hâdî al-Wâdi’î (PDF).

In the middle of translating the will, I was finally able to find it posted on some random blog post regarding the last will and testament (al-wasiyyah) itself, quoted as an example of what one looks like (Shaikh al-Albânî’s last will and testament was another example shown in the post). The post’s author referenced Shaikh Muqbil’s Salafi Publications’s website, but searching their site, I was unable to find it at all. For whoever wants to read their translation of the will (which differs from mine in some parts), you can do so by visiting this blog. You’ll find Shaikh Muqbil’s will about two thirds down the page, followed by Shaikh al-Albânî’s last will and testament.

al-Ma’ribi on al-Qaradawi

Note: I’m sure there are some Salafi brothers and sisters who might be surprized by what is contained in the shaikh’s answer. Regardless of your thoughts on Shaikh Yūsuf al-Qaradâwî, however, I want and hope that those of you who read this will pay close attention to what he says, the principles he uses, that lead him to say what he says about al-Qaradâwî.

In his answers to questions of members of Muntadâ al-Kâshif, Shaikh Abul-Hasan al-Ma’ribi mentions,

A questioner asks, “It has been spread that you were asked about ash-Sha’râwî and al-Qaradâwî and you said we do not hereticate them until the proof has been built upon them. Your answer was difficult for me, for how can we not hereticate them [when] they are not from the People of the Sunnah and Congregation?”

al-Albani On Publishing Tapes & Books by Non-Salafis

Questioner:

I work in Islamic recordings (audio tapes). I had the opportunity to ask some people of knowledge about what is connected to the responsibility for the publication of the tapes of some of those who don’t traverse the methodology of the Predecessors, they belong, for example, to some of the groups on the scene, like the group al-Ikhwan al-Muslimîn or at-Tablîgh, or the like. Some of them (i.e., the scholars) gave verdicts that I should not record or publish these tapes at all, while some others said, “From them, choose what you see contains the proper [information] and does not have explicitness in opposing the methodology of the Predecessors.” So the confusion has not left me until now. I ask Allah, mighty and majestic is He, to end this confusion with what you opine and suggest to us in this field; may Allah reward you with good.
