What is Islam & who are the Muslims?

Islam is a monotheistic religion based on the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The word ‘Islam’ is Arabic and literally means ‘surrender’ or ‘submission.’ As a faith, it means total and sincere submission to the One Almighty God (Allah). A ‘Muslim’ is therefore one who has voluntarily submitted his or her will to God.

The Purpose of Life

What is the purpose of life? It’s a question rarely thought about much less reflected upon. And yet for those who do reflect upon it, the conclusions are almost always related to worldly ambitions: acquisition of wealth and power, attainment of status and societal recognition, and personal desires— ‘living life to its fullest.’ The purpose of life, however, is not about worldly aspirations related to our present and personal life. It is about the purpose of life itself.
