Key to Paradise Update

To Allah is the praise, Shaikh ‘Alî Hasan al-Halabî arrived Wednesday night and started giving talks Thursday evening. Thursday and Friday’s talks were on the causes for firmness in the religion. They were excellent talks. For anyone who wasn’t able to hear them, whether live in person, or on PalTalk, I suggest you order them from QSSC when they’re made available.

The main conference revolving around Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah’s Miftah Dâr as-Sa’âdah began yesterday shortly after the noon prayer. Again, the talk was broadcasted on PalTalk. The shaikh spoke of Ibn al-Qayyim giving us a biography of the great imam as taken from a couple of sources: the biographies of Ibn al-Qayyim written by Shaikh ‘Abdur-Rahman al-Wakîl, former head of Jamâ’ah Ansâr as-Sunnah al-Muhammadiyyah in Egypt (may Allah have mercy on him) and Shaikh Sayyid Sâbiq, author of Fiqh as-Sunnah.

The conference continues today, with Allah’s permission, with selections pertaining to knowledge from Ibn al-Qayyim’s book. For those of you unable to attend in person, again, the talks should be broadcast on PalTalk. You can find information on the room and everything else on the QSSC site. For those of you who will be attending, please remember to avoid parking in the plaza’s parking lot. Yesterday the lot was ram packed and I’m sure the businesses will be complaining about it. Please park on the side streets or in the city lot mentioned in my previous post.

For those wondering about the turn out, personally, I don’t remember the mosque being so full except for Friday sermons when there’s a long weekend. Both brothers and sisters’ sections were filled with very little room, if any at all, mâshâ’allah. Plenty of new faces, and plenty of old ones who haven’t been seen for ages. We’ve got travellers from Michigan, Nova Scotia, Edmonton, Ottawa, and who knows where else. It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen numbers like this, and all the praise is Allah’s.

In any case, I hope that if any of you brothers who visit my blog come to the talks today, if I don’t know you and you figure out who I am, come up and give salam. It’d be nice to see the faces of those who bother to spend time reading my stuff.

Oh yeah, starting Monday, the shaikh will be visiting various mosques around the GTA to give lectures, so keep tabs on the lecture schedule posted on the QSSC site as there may be changes and additions or subtractions or whatever made to it.

    Assalaamu ‘alaykum

Will the lectures at Masjid Farooq be broadcasted on paltalk tonight?

  2. Wa ‘alaikum as-salam wa rahmatullah sister,

I don’t think they will be, unless the Masjid al-Farooq will have the equipment set up. I believe some of the QSSC brothers will be bringing their recording equipment though, so there should be recordings of the lecture available some time in the near future.
