Zaid bin Thâbit left riding so Ibn ‘Abbâs took hold of his ride. Zaid said, “Do not do that, O cousin of Allah’s messenger, may Allah send salutations and peace upon him and his family.” So he (i.e., Ibn ‘Abbâs) said, “This is how we were commanded to act with our scholars.” So Zaid said, “Show me your hand,” then he took his hand. Zaid kissed it and said, “This is how we were commanded to act with the people of the household of our Prophet, may Allah send salutations and peace upon him.”

A note on the narration’s authenticity from the referenced source:
It was published by al-Baihaqî in al-Madkhal (no. 93), al-Khatîb al-Baghdâdî in al-Faqîh wal-Mutafaqqih (2/197/854) and in al-Jâmi’ li Akhlâq ar-Râwî wa Âdâb as-Sâmi’ (1/283/310,311 – ar-Risâlah), al-Fasawî in al-Ma’rifah wat-Târîkh (1/484), at–Tabarânî in al-Mu’jam al-Kabîr (5/no. 3736), Ibn Sa’d in at–Tabaqât (2/360), and Ibn ‘Asâkir in Târîkh Dimashq (19/325-326), from [several] routes; from Abî Razîn, from ash-Sha’bî with [the narration]. A group narrated it from Abî Razîn. From them: ‘Ubaidullah bin Mūsâ and Abū Nu’aim together from him with [the narration], Sufyân ath-Thawrî from him with [the narration], and Abū Nu’aim alone from him with [the narration]. Hâfidh Ibn Hajar authenticated its chain [of transmission] in al-Isâbah (1/543).
Ibn ‘Abdil-Barr mentioned it in Jâmi’ Bayân al-‘Ilm (1/510/832), adh-Dhahabî in as-Siyar (2/313), Ibn Qutaibah in ‘Uyūn al-Akhbâr, and others.
It has other routes which you can see in ‘Allâmah Mash·hūr bin Hasan Âl Salmân’s verification for al-Mujâlasah by ad-Dînawarî (4/146/1314), may Allah reward him with good.
