Quote … Unquote … no. 2

Recognize the men by the truth, not the truth by the men. And beware of falling into the abyss of exaggeration for individuals, for that will push you to reject the truth and quarrel with its people.

Rabî’ bin Hâdî ‘Umair al-Madkhalî
Manhaj al-Anbiyâ’ fid-Da’wah Ilallah Fîhi al-Hikmah wal-‘Aql, pg. 18 (2nd printing)

About Rasheed Gonzales
My name is Rasheed Gonzales. I’m a Muslim convert of Filipino descent. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, I was guided to Islam through one of my younger brothers and a couple of friends, all of whom had converted to Islam sometime before me (may Allah reward them greatly). I am married with four children (and the praise is Allah’s) and also a volunteer for the Qur'an & Sunnah Society of Canada, based in Toronto.

you attributed this (above) quote to Rabi – are you aware of an athar attributed to the fourth Righteous Caliph, of the first sentence?

best regards and salaams to brother Shabir.

  2. as-Salâm ‘alaikum wa rahmatullah,

Yes, I’m aware of that. Perhaps you missed the comment I posted on brother Umar Lee’s blog in which I quoted the exact statement from ‘Alî, may Allah be pleased with him. I also provided a reference from where I got it in the same comment (it should be directly below yours).

The first portion of the statement I posted here was paraphrased by Shaikh Rabî’ bin Hâdî, the rest of the quote is from his words, taken from the book referenced.

Regarding Shabir, try emailing him. I no longer have any contact with him.
