My Blog …

February 8, 2007

At the suggestion of a close friend, and after much thought, I decided to start up a blog. I haven’t really decided what the main focus of the site’s going to be, or even what material I’ll be posting here. In any case, whoever you are and however you found this particular portion of the Internet, I hope you find whatever I write or post to be insightful or interesting.

A little about myself … my name is Rasheed Gonzales. I’m a Muslim convert of Filipino descent. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, I was guided to Islam through one of my younger brothers and a couple of friends, all of whom had converted to Islam sometime before me (may Allah reward them greatly). I am married with two three children (and the praise is Allah’s) and also a volunteer for the Qur’an & Sunnah Society of Canada, based in Toronto. If you want to know more, you can check out My Story … This is my blog about nothing in specific (for the moment). Welcome, and enjoy your stay … .

Oh, a word about comments since people have begun visiting my page and commenting on some of the posts … . My policy with comments is simple (some new points added):

  • No flaming, blatant insults or disrespectful conduct, or foul language. This type of behaviour will not be tolerated. Violate this and your comment will be edited, or deleted—whichever of the two I deem to be more appropriate. And if I feel it’s warranted, I’ll ban the offender from commenting again, if possible.

  • [New]: Please do not use my comments section as an advertising platform to promote your events, websites, etc. I will allow links to other sites for information and reference purposes, but shameless plugs and things of the sort will be deleted; links I deem inappropriate will also be deleted. If you want to promote an event on my blog, shoot me an email at rasheed DOT gonzales AT gmail DOT com and I’ll consider posting something if I feel it’s needed.

  • [New]: Please keep comments related to the particular blog entry you’re commenting on, or related to the discussion taking place as a result of the entry. Completely random or totally off topic comments will be edited or deleted if I deem them inappropriate.

  • Please type your messages in proper English, if possible i.e., use proper spelling and grammar. I’m not too big on AOLese or when people who try to type their whole message in slang. Comments riddled with either, if they annoy me enough, will be deleted.

  • If anyone posts up a comment and wants it edited (for typos or anything else) or deleted, just shoot me an email (to the address found on the My Work … page) and I’ll be happy to oblige.

  4. Abul Fadl Says:

Alhamdulillah, I’m so glad Allah took me away from the Salafi misguidance. The veil over your eyes is thick. Pray Allah guides you and keeps the Ummah safe from the fitna of this cult.

  5. Rasheed Gonzales Says:

as-Salam ‘alaikum wa rahmatullah, Abul Fadl.

May Allah guide you, me, and the rest of the Muslims to the truth and whatever pleases Him.

  6. Hannah Says:

    Wa ‘alaykum as salam,

How magnanimous of you Rashid, as you have commented on other peoples blogs how some groups are “misguided”, I didn’t think you would get too uppity with my remarks.

You may consider me “misguided”, I consider you more influenced by shaytan than al-Haq. The dalail against your understanding is undeniable, that is why I believe you and others like you are veiled. The greatest veil is arrogance. Sincerely look in your heart and see if there are any traces of arrogance. I read a comment you wrote and it smacked of arrogance, but an untrained eye is blind to seeing these things.

  7. Rasheed Gonzales Says:

Amusing. I supplicate to Allah to guide us both to the truth and what pleases Him and you find fault with that; masha’allah. If you truly believe me to be misguided and veiled from the truth, then say amîn to the supplication and sincerely hope for my guidance.

As for the other stuff regarding my perceived arrogance, the “falsehood” of Salafism, and whatever comment of my you read on whatever blog, then you can think or say what you want. This is the only address I’m going to make regarding it and will not entertain any debate concerning it.

May Allah guide you and I, Abul Fadl or Hannah (or whatever your real name is), to the truth and whatever pleases Him.

    Have a nice day.
