Doc Marranci’s posted a new entry, which I saw this morning in my Blog Surfer. Its title peaked my interest, so I thought I’d check it out. Lo and behold, more news that you don’t usually find on Western news outlets. Searching for this (Christian) terrorist’s name, Google only produces one hit from a Western news agency (a Time magazine article from 20 years ago, at that). I also ran a search for the guy’s name on the usual news agency sites (some of which I’ve mentioned previously) and came up with jack. At least with the Buddhist story I got a couple of results. I guess Christian terrorism isn’t very high on the Western media’s best selling stories list either.

AIAT Educational Seminar

SalafiManhaj.com’s put up a new article related to my recent post concerning the weapons found in Tibetan Monasteries (they actually quote the post in the article). To give a little background on some of current discussions revolving the whole China-Tibet debate, I thought I’d post the following article brother AbdulHaq showed me. I’ve yet to finish the whole thing, but thus far, I’ve found it pretty fascinating, especially if what’s mentioned in it is accurate and true. The one thing that bothers me about the piece is it’s source: the Party for Socialism and Liberation (but hey, if it’s true, it’s true).

Most of you probably already know about Fitna, the so called “film” by Geert Wilders, made with the intention of inciting and provoking the Muslim community worldwide. I had thought about writing something about the whole situation (given the fact that I kind of laughed at just how tame and relatively unoffensive it was—compared to the media hype Wilders was giving it, that is, not to mention the other inflamatory anti-Islamic material out there), but later decided not to …

… that is, until I received the link to this article, sent to me by brother Kamil Ahmad. I have yet to see the video mentioned in this article, but I plan on watching it after I post this entry.

Whether it’s true or not, Allah is more knowledgeable, but this is news you don’t find on many Western news outlets. I don’t know if it’s that I’m not searching hard enough or what, but I haven’t been able to find this story on local news agency sites; the Globe & Mail, the Star, CityNews, the Post, CBC, the Canadian News Wire and CTV, all failed to produce any search results for me. Likewise, I was unable to find anything on BBC and CNN. I was, however, able to find (brief) mention of the story on Reuters and the Associated Press (via USA Today).

Allah’s Annihilation?! A Reply to the Christian Polemic “The Annihilation of Allah: A Question and Challenge to Salafi Anthropomorphists” (PDF), by yours truly.

From the article:

Before addressing the actual challenge, I would like to mention that I found the title of this Christian polemicist’s tract quite amusing. Here we have a Christian who believes that Prophet Jesus, upon him be peace, was Allah incarnate labelling Salafîs as anthropomorphists. The irony in that should be quite resonant to anyone of sound mind. One would think that Christians would be more deserving of that designation than Salafîs.

Anthropomorphism is defined as “an interpretation of what is not human or personal in terms of human or personal characteristics.” This is something that is not necessetated by merely affirming certain attributes to non-human things.

I’m currently considering writing another article, with the help of a friend or two, to tackle the issue of anthropomorphism. One of my friends has already contributed a few quotes we could use for it. I’ve also got a few books in mind to sift through for material, so it shouldn’t be too tough a project if we even get around to doing it. We’ll see though, Allah willing.
