Much thanks to brother AbdulHaq for bringing a couple of things to my attention. The first was a report titled The Hijacking of Britsh Islam. Penned by Denis MacEoin, a so-called “expert” in Islamic Studies, and published just a few days ago (October 29, 2007 according to the document’s properties) by Policy Exchange, a British think tank, the report is being dubbed (by Policy Exchange themselves, no less) as,

[a]n authoritative new report by Policy Exchange, the UK’s leading centre-right thinktank, entitled The Hijacking of British Islam: How extremist literature is subverting Britain’s mosques, reveals the worrying extent of extremist penetration of mosques and other key institutions of the British Muslim community. The report is the most comprehensive academic survey of its kind ever produced in the UK and is based on a year-long investigation by several teams of specialist researchers into the availability of extremist literature and covers more than a hundred mosques and Islamic centres throughout the UK. Here’s another old translation I did a few years ago, edited and posted, for you.

His eminence, Shaikh Muhammad bin Sâlih bin ‘Uthaimîn (may Allah have mercy on him), said,

Some of those who have taken the path of Salafism in this time of ours have begun to declare all of those who differ with them to be astray, even if the truth were with them (i.e., the ones who differ with them). They have taken it (i.e., Salafism) as a partisan methodology, like the methodology of the other parties that are ascribed to Islam. This is that which is rebuked, and its affirmation is not possible.

I was sifting through one of my temporary folders and came across this article which I translated a few years ago taken from something originally posted on the as-Sâhah al-’Arabiyyah forums. I thought it would be good to edit and post it here for you guys. Allah willing, it will provide some benefit for those who choose to read it.

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Shaikh Muhammad bin Sâlih al-’Uthaimîn’s Methodology Regarding Speaking About Individuals

Question: Esteemed shaikh, you know what Shaikh … has of good efforts in the da’wah, so we want a declaration from your excellence, of what you know about this shaikh since some have begun speaking about him, may Allah reward you with good.

Brother Abû Yûnus I’jâz ibn Iftikhâr of Utah had sent out an email last night on one of the mailing lists I’m a member of containing links to a nice article he had written. I had first seen this article on brother Jalal Abualrub’s site and is now also available on CalltoIslam’s site (PDF). The article is from the appendicies from a book he compiled titled Victory is for Islâm: Glad Tidings for Muslims, which is printed and avaible. Those who want the original article from the book can download it from this link (PDF, right click & save as). From the article:

There has been a long trend in the media circles, both print and broadcast, on using specific terminologies to vilify and depreciate Islām and Muslims and disseminate their false propaganda globally; it is geared more so towards Islām, simply because the neo-cons and media spinners realize that Islām is more of a threat than any Muslim towards their self-gratifying, opportunistic agendas for world domination. The terms I am alluding to are: “radical Islam”, “militant Islam”, “Islamic men”, “puritanical brand of Islam”, “Wahhabism,” “ultra-conservative view of Islam” “Islamic militants,” “violent jihad,” etcetera.

This form of deception is not limited to employing the oft-repeated, oft-quoted term “fundamentalism/fundamentalist” anymore (e.g., Muslim fundamentalist, etc.). Now, we have a vast myriad of catchwords and catchphrases utilized by the [pro-Zion, Illuminati-controlled] mainstream media as well as self-appointed “experts” on Islām andِ terrorism who write books not in order to educate people but in order to mar the image of Islām and instill enmity and animosity in the minds of the readers and thereby dissuade people from being tolerant towards it, let alone approaching it with an open-mind or embracing it. The growth and proliferation of such literature has increased exponentially to such a level that I have resolved to amalgamate and conglomerate these highly-charged anti-Islāmic, anti-Muslim terms under the blanket phrase “nomenclature of deception.”

Read on … Nomenclature of Deception (Note that the link is only being provided for the article itself, and that brother I’jaz does not endorse the site it’s found on in any way).

Islamic Supremacism?

October 18, 2007

Brother Sameer Parker and I have been engaged in a discussion with some of Spencer’s supporters over on his blog (you can read its entirety here). Sameer’s posted one of his responses to commentor “awake” as a separate blog entry for his readership to see. You can read his response here; may Allah reward and bless him for his efforts. From the response:

Let me address this ‘Islamic supremist ideology’ thing. Awake I assume that you are a Christian and that you believe that your religion is ’superior’ to other religions and that only Christians will go to Heaven? I will say that that is a reasonable stance since I - as a Muslim - hold the same about Islam, but I will not call you a ‘Christian Supremist’. I may disagree with your stance, but I CAN see why you would hold that position. If you did not believe your religion to be superior, then why be in it?

Do I believe that Islam is the only correct religion? Yes!

Do I believe that believing in Islam is a requirement to enter Heaven? Yes

Does that make me agree with terrorism? Of course not, so why are we mixing the issues? People assume now that a Muslim who believes his/her religion is the only truth sympathizes with terror.

The brothers at SalafiManhaj.com have added a new article regarding pledges of cooperation with the Ash’arîs, Mâturîdîs, ans Sūfîs containing questions posed to Shaikh Dr. Khâlid al-’Anbarî. You can check it out here.
